KUANTAN: Pakistan’s journey of 2016 Asian Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy halted after the team lost match against India by 2-3 on Sunday, ARY News reported.
Pakistan gave their arch-rivals tough time throughout the game. At one point Pakistan even got upper hand against the opponents. However, after the match entered into third quarters India scored two back to back goals to set on lead.
It was Pakistan’s third match in the tournament. The green shirts’ first match of the competition was against the hosts, Malaysia, which they lost 4-2.
Meanwhile, India started their campaign on a high as they whooped Japan 10-2.
India drew 1-1 against South Korea in their second game of the tournament.
Pakistan managed to beat South Korea 1-0 in a nail-biting contest.
It was a crucial match for Pakistan. Earlier, they were placed at third spot in the standings of the competition’s round robin stage with three points whereas India were at second spot with four points.
