RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Navy and Maritime Security Agency took three tonnes of hashish into possession from a boat in northern Arabian Ocean, a spokesperson of the naval force said on Wednesday.
In a joint anti-narcotics operation by the two forces, drugs worth millions of dollars were seized, according to the Navy spox.
The seized narcotic was later handed over to relative authorities.
“These operations are necessary to maintain law and order,” the spokesperson stated while highlighting that the forces will continue to play their role in curbing illegal activities.
Previously, 5,000kgs of hashish had been seized by PNS Aslat as a result of highly complex and risky operation.
On the other hand, Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi is currently in the United States to attend an international symposium.
Emphasizing on maintaining good relations with the United States, Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi said in Washington,“Though the decision by US to suspend security assistance to Pakistan was not a favourable one, it was not a life or death situation.”
“We want good relations with or without security assistance. We have enough resources in Pakistan. We can work without US assistance,” he added.
