FAISALABAD: Pakistan’s tallest woman, Zainab Bibi, and former holder of the ‘world’s tallest woman’ title in Guinness Book of World Record, passed away in Faisalabad today. She was 46.
Zainab Bibi was admitted to Faisalabad’s Allied Hospital for last couple of months. Her funeral prayers will be offered in her ancestral village.
She was shot to limelight in 1998 when she appeared in PTV’s Neelam Ghar programme and in 2003 she was declared world’s tallest woman by Guinness Book of World Record.
She had visited 15 countries, including the UK, France, Germany and Saudi Arabia. She made earnings through public appearances in the country and abroad.
It is reported that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had presented a cheque of Rs2 million to Zainab Bibi in his last tenure.
Zainab is survived by five sisters and belongs to a poor family. In her interview last year, she described her height as the ‘hurdle’ to get married.
