Ishaq Dar, speaking to traders after visiting Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), said that in the war against terrorism the country suffered economic losses worth US dollars 100 billion apart of a death toll of 50,000 Pakistani citizens.
He added that international monetary institutions were not doing business with Pakistan till 2012 and the country had defaulted in repayment of loans.
The finance minister said that the government is aiming to achieve seven percent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth target in years to come.
Dar said that there is an acute power crisis in the country. He added that with addition of 3600 megawatt power generation through LNG and 4000 megawatt gas power projects the electricity generation will move up to 14,000 megawatts.
He also said that the National Identity Card (NIC) number will also be used as a National Tax Number (NTN) from July 2015.
“We still have three 3G licenses which will be sold at Rs. 50 billion”, he added.
