Panama Probe: JIT to review Sharif family’s tax returns, property papers today

ISLAMABAD: The Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT), formed in line with the Supreme Court’s April 20 verdict, is to meet today (Saturday) at Federal Judicial Academy to review tax returns and other documents relating the businesses of Sharif family.

According to sources, the six-member team will also collect the evidences for the preparation of its final report that is to be submitted in the top court on July 10.

The week is being deemed significant for the probing team as the six-member JIT is due to present its final report before the apex court.

The JIT has summoned the premier’s cousin Tariq Shafi on July 2 (tomorrow) for second time.

The apex court appointed JIT has also summoned the premier’s sons, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, to appear before it for further investigation on July 3 and 4 respectively.

The investigating team has also asked the premier’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, to appear  before it on July 5.

FINAL REPORT DUE ON JULY 10

Previously, the Supreme Court had directed the JIT, headed by FIA’s additional director general Wajid Zia, to submit its final report of investigation on July 10.

The JIT has been given 60 days to probe Sharif family’s properties and the money trail behind it as part of the verdict announced in the Panama Papers case.
