Paragon scam: Physical remand of Khawaja brothers extended till Jan 5

LAHORE: The physical remand of detained Khawaja brothers – Saad Rafique and Salman Rafique – has been extended for 15 days until January 5 by an accountability court on Saturday (today).

According to details, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) produced the duo before the court as their physical remand ended today in Paragon Housing Society scam.

Earlier today, former railway minister Saad Rafique was brought to Lahore from Islamabad where he was on transit remand since Thursday to attend the National Assembly session.

Heavy contingents of police have been deployed in the premises of the court and roads leading to the court have also been blocked.

On Dec 11, NAB authorities had arrested Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique after Lahore High Court (LHC) had turned down their bail plea in Paragon Housing Society scam.

NAB had launched an investigation into the alleged scam in November after a number of victims staged protests and held a press conference at the Lahore Press Club against what they termed housing society’s fraud.
