ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party on Thursday agreed over two years extension for the military courts in a meeting of the parliamentary leaders here, ARY News reported.
A meeting of the parliamentary leaders chaired by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, earlier, discussed the nine-points proposals of the PPP over the military courts.
The meeting decided to table the bill in National Assembly tomorrow.
The PPP withdrawn its proposal of inclusion of session judges in military courts.
PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi told the media that the two demands of PPP about the law of evidence 1984 and the right to appeal against the military court verdict were approved in the meeting.
Qureshi said that the parties have agreed over the new draft, now if any hurdle created the PML-N and PPP will be responsible.
The political parties have agreed to table the bill on military courts in the National Assembly after completion of the consultations and agreement over the new draft.
Earlier, Shaikh Rashid expressing his disagreement with the PPP proposals said that he backs his earlier stance of two years extension to the military courts.
MQM’s Farooq Sattar had called for revival of the previous draft on the military courts. He had also said that PML-N’s Ishaq Dar also supports the earlier draft on the issue.
The meeting was attended by Ishaq Dar, Aftab Sherpao, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shirin Mazari, Aitzaz Ahsan, Farooq H. Naik, Farooq Sattar, Azam Swati, Mushahid Hussain, Hasil Bizinjo, Shaikh Rashid, Sahibzada Tariqullah, Akram Durrani, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour and others.
