PAT takes out solidarity rally for ARY

KARACHI: Workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers took out ‘solidarity rally’ in support of ARY and denounced the ban on the popular news channel of Pakistan.

Hundreds of civil society members as well as PAT workers including women and children took part in the rally. The PAT workers chanted slogans in favour of ARY News. They reached the head-office of ARY News in Karachi and staged sit-in to demonstrate their support for the channel.

The PAT activists strongly criticized the government for resorting to this illegal move of banning ARY.

One of the women protesters said, “The news of Dr. Qadri’s arrival has bewildered the government and resultantly it banned ARY which is presenting truth to its audience.”

“We want ARY to be restored immediately. This is the ruthless dictatorship. The end days of PML-N government are near,” said the protester.

Participants of the protest also slammed the government for Lahore incident wherein around 12 lives were lost, majority of them were PAT workers.

The protesters announced to continue their sit-ins until the transmission of ARY was restored.

They warned of strong retaliation if government put any bars on Dr. Qadri on his arrival in the country. They also threatened stern movement if government did not restore ARY’s transmission.
