Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi gets protective bail in terrorism case

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has approved the protective bail of the former chief minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in terrorism case, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

Former Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi appeared before LHC Justice Ali Baqar Najafi’s court for protective bail.

PTI president Pervaiz Elahi’s counsel pleaded with the court to grant seven-day protective bail, but the LHC denied and granted bail of only two days.

He was directed to appear before the concerned court in the terrorism case within two days.

Pervaiz Elahi was booked under terrorism charges at Ghalib Market police station, Lahore.

Elahi holds Punjab CM responsible for raids

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf president Pervaiz Elahi held Punjab’s caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi responsible for the raids at his residence in Lahore and Gujrat.

In his informal talk with journalists upon arrival at the LHC, Elahi said “All this is happening due to Mohsin Naqvi.”

Earlier, Police late Monday night raided the residence of former Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in Gujrat, almost two days after they conducted a similar operation at his house in Lahore.

As per details, police raided four places including Kunjah House, the former CM’s residence in Gujrat to arrest him.

During the raid, the police entered Elahi’s house by climbing walls and interrogated his staff. Moonis Elahi, the former CM’s son, alleged that although the police did not have the search warrant to conduct the raid, he allowed them access to the premises.

ACE, police raid

On April 28, the anti-corruption establishment (ACE) team along with police contingents raided former Punjab Chief Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Pervaiz Elahi’s house in Lahore.

It was learnt that 25 persons including a woman were arrested by ACE during the raid. However, Pervaiz Elahi was not arrested in the raid.

The eight-hour-long police action came to a halt after the Director General of Punjab’s Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), Sohail Zafar Chattha, left the scene along with the police contingent.

The police entered the house after jumping from the wall and an armoured personnel carrier (APC) of police broke the main gate of the residence.
