PIA launches investigation of Malik’s off-loading incident

Passengers of Islamabad bound PIA flight PK-370 refused to let Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Rehman Malik and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Parliamentarian Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani boarding in the flight which was delayed.

The passengers thought that the flight was deliberately delayed because of these Parliamentarians whereas the People’s Party senator has denied the claim.

A spokesperson of PIA has said that the flight was delayed by 2.5 hours due to a technical fault and the passengers were notified via text messages on their mobile phones.

He added that the staff of the national airliner took the senator to the lounge late due to which the passengers became furious and blamed the politician for the delay.

The spokesperson also said that the flight was delayed due to the negligence of the engineering staff.

General Manager Traffic Amir Basheer, speaking with ARY News, said that the parliamentarians are always the last ones to board flights. He added that Senator Rehman Malik and Dr. Vankwani had arrived on time.

“The incident took place as the aircraft arrived late in Karachi”, he added.

Basheer also said that the investigation of the incident is underway and Terminal Manager Shehzad Ali and Senior Shift Incharge Nadeem Abro have been suspended for the flight delay.
