NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is arriving here today to represent Pakistan at the session of the United Nations General Assembly.
On the sidelines of the General Assembly, the PM will hold bilateral meetings with a number of world leaders and the secretary general of the UN.
PM Abbasi will address the Council on Foreign Relations and will interact with the US Pakistan Business Council. He will also have extensive interaction with the international media.
The theme of this year’s session is ‘Focusing on people; Striving for peace and a decent life for all on a Sustainable Planet.
A day earlier, the PM called on his predecessor Nawaz Sharif in London and inquired about the health of his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz who is undergoing treatment for throat cancer.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, and Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq also attended the meeting wherein political matters and progress on development projects were discussed.
Speaking briefly to reporters, PM Abbasi said conspiracies are being hatched against his party and resolved that these plots should be dealt with politically.
