Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had sought clarification from Senator Mushahidullah over his controversial interview to BBC.
Mushahidullah had, in an interview with BBC, claimed that the former Director General Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam wanted to overthrow the country’s civil and military leadership during last year’s sit-ins by the PTI and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).
Mushahidullah explained his position with regards to his interview in a meeting with Premier Nawaz Sharif at PM House and claimed that his views were presented out of the context in the interview.
The prime minister after his clarification accepted the minister’s resignation from the Cabinet.
Information Minister Pervez Rasheed on Saturday had said that Mushahidullah had tendered his resignation to the PM.
