PM announces compensation for Parachinar bomb victims

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced payment of Rs. one million compensation each for the families of the people killed in a terrorist attack in Parachinar, ARY News reported on Thursday.

The prime minister has also announced Rs. five lac each for the people injured in the bomb attack.

According to a report of the state radio, the prime Minister has issued directives to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in this regard.

The blasts on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan killed dozens of people shopping at a market ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The first bomb exploded in the crowded market place. When people rushed to the spot to rescue the wounded, a second blast took place.

Earlier, in January, 25 people were killed and 87 others suffered injuries when a bomb went off during peak business hours at a crowded vegetable market in the city in the tribal region. In another bomb attack on March 31 this year, 23 people were killed in car bomb blast near an ImamĀ­bargah at midday. More than 70 others were wounded in the attack.

The people of the terrorism-hit city have started protest against increasing terrorism incidents in the area despite stringent security measures.
