PM appoints 15 MNAs as parliamentary secretaries

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed 15 members of National Assembly as parliamentary secretaries for different ministries and divisions.

According to the notification issued by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi has been appointed as Parliamentary Secretary for the Finance, Lal Chand as Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights, Rukhsana Naveed for Climate Change, Rubina Jamil for Defence Production, Nausheen Hamid for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Wajiha Akram for Federal Education and Professional Training and Shahdana Gulzar Khan for Commerce.

Likewise, Javaria Zafar Aheer has been appointed as Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Jamil Ahmed Khan for Maritime Affairs, Tashfeen Safdar for Housing and Works, Raja Riaz Ahmed for Petroleum, Farrukh Habib for Railways, Zahoor Hussain Qureshi for Power, Alia Hamza Malik for Textile and Andleeb Abbas for Foreign Affairs.

On Sep 18, PM Khan’s close aide Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari was appointed as his special assistant on overseas Pakistanis and human resource development.

A notification issued by the cabinet division said the PM had appointed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, also known as Zulfi Bukhari, as his special assistant on overseas Pakistanis and human resource development with the status of Minister of State.

However, a week later the appointment of Bukhari was challenged in the Supreme Court.

The top court was requested to stop the prime minister’s close friend, from discharging duties as special assistant to the PM and declare his appointment void for being a dual national.

Bukhari faces a NAB case for allegedly owning offshore companies in the British Virgin Islands.
