LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said that some elements have made the religion hostage to their evil interests.
The prime minister addressing a seminar at Jamia Naeemia in Lahore said this narrative should be taught to youth at educational institutions.
He said there are people in our society who are facilitating evil deeds, but the state will take them to their logical end.
Sharif said that Islam teaches unity, harmony and brotherhood and there is a dire need for adopting these principles for a prosperous Islamic world.
Nawaz Sharif called upon religious scholars to contribute towards peace and prosperity of the country by promoting tolerance and inter-faith harmony and eliminating extremism and terrorism.
He urged the clergy to get united to fight against terrorism and sectarianism.
