ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Monday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his immense displeasure over a recent first information report (FIR) lodged against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his aides, ARY News reported.
Taking to the social networking website, ‘Twitter’, Fawad Chaudhry said that “PM Imran Khan was unware of any such FIR against Nawaz Sharif, when I informed him about the case, he expressed immense displeasure.”
The minister said that maybe someone wanted to implicate the former prime minister in a case.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill, in his tweet, said that filing treason cases against politicians was not his government policy, adding that PML-N government had been using these tactics in its tenure.
The FIR did not contain any clause of terrorism, he said and added that sedition clause was added in the case.

Earlier today, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and other Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders had been booked on treason charges.
The case had been registered at the PS Shahdara on the complaint of a local citizen Badar Rasheed. Maryam Nawaz, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Pervez Rasheed, Khawaja and Rana Sanaullah had also been named in the case.
