PM House buffaloes sold at auction

ISLAMABAD: As part of the ongoing austerity drive of the government, eight buffaloes belonging to the PM House were sold for Rs2,302,000 at an auction held today.

One of the buffaloes was purchased by a man named Qalb Ali — a resident of Jhangi Sayedan — who paid Rs385,000 for the animal.

The government had earlier issued a notification regarding the auction of buffaloes.

“The auction of eight Nili-Ravi buffaloes will take place at 11: 00 am at dairy farm of the PM House on September 27,” read the notification. It said that the buffalos would be sold out to person who offers the highest bid, adding that the competent authority has also the right to reject the bid on any grounds.

Senior PTI leader Naeemul Haque had also mentioned buffaloes among the auction list in his tweet couple of weeks ago.

On Sep 17, over 70 out of 102 luxury vehicles of the Prime Minister House were sold as the first phase of auction. In the next phase of auction, bulletproof cars will be sold as a part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s austerity drive.

The vehicles include eight BMWs, three cars of 2014 model and three 5000cc SUVs and two 3000cc SUVs of 2016 model.

The list also contains four Mercedes Benz cars of 2016 model. Two of them are 4000cc bullet-proof vehicles.

There are 16 Toyota cars. One of them is 2004 Lexus car, one 2006 Lexus SUV and two 2004 Land Cruisers. Eight cars range from 2003 to 2013 models.
