PM Nawaz felicitates Modi on India’s Independence Day

According to a press release issued by Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif conveyed his felicitations to the Indian government and its people on their independence day.

He added that the promotion of friendly, cooperative and good neighborly relations between the two South Asian countries is important for peace in the region.

The Pakistani premier says that the people of Pakistan hope to resolve all the outstanding issues between the two countries through comprehensive dialogue and guide a new era of trust and cooperation.

Earlier, Indian Premier Modi had greeted Pakistan on its Independence Day on August 14.

The violations of Line of Control ceasefire along the border have escalated tensions between Pakistan and India ahead of the meetings between the two countries’ National Security Advisers (NSAs).

India will not attend Commonwealth Parliamentary Union meeting in Islamabad next month after Speaker of Indian controlled Jammu and Kashmir Assembly not invited to the moot.

Prime Minister’s advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz will meet his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval on August 23 to discuss terrorism and other matters.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in their meeting at Ufa in Russia had agreed for a meeting of the national security advisers of the two countries.
