According to ARY News correspondent Azhar Farooq, Mr. Sharif phoned up Modi from Sri Lanka, where he is on a three-day official visit to oversee signing of several bilateral agreements in different sectors.
In response, Modi emphasised on Pakistan to take firm and immediate action against individuals responsible or terrorists linked to Pathankot airbase attack.
Mr. Sharif told his Indian counterpart that Pakistan and India were both suffering from the menace of terrorism and “Pakistan have faced such attacks in the past.”
He said to Mr. Modi that Pakistani government will extend all-out cooperation in tracking and exposing the attackers of the Indian air base.
Gunmen launched the assault on Indian air base in Pathankot that killed 7 Indian security personnel and injured 22.
In a latest statement Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said six militants who attacked Pathankot air base have been confirmed killed, adding that a four-day-old operation to secure the compound was still under way.
