The top officials while seeking solution of the petroleum crisis, people in Punjab running from the pillar to post to seek petrol as the shortage has paralysed life in province. People standing in long queues at filling stations waiting to get the rare commodity called petrol.
The meeting at Prime Minister House Islamabad was attended by the Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other top government officials.
Petroleum Minister briefed the meeting about the reasons behind the shortage and the steps taken by his ministry to address the situation.
“I am not responsible for the situation. I will myself quit the ministry if proven guilty.” Abbasi said.
The petroleum crisis has also hit hard to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Most of the petrol pumps in Peshawar have been closed.
The rationing of petrol has been started in the province and not more than 100 rupees petrol is being provided to the customers at the filling stations to deal the crisis situation.
The crisis in Punjab worsened last week after large number of fuel stations dried up in various cities.
Moreover, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has promised the end of petroleum crisis in a matter of few days.
The minister in a news conference in Islamabad today said the responsibility of the shortage will be fixed after investigation into the crisis. He denied responsibility of his ministry for the fuel shortage.
He held oil companies including Pakistan State Oil (PSO) responsible for petroleum crisis.
