PML-N candidate rejects poll results of NA-60

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Sajjad Khan, who lost NA-10 seat to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Sheikh Rashid Shafique, has rejected the results of by-elections in the National Assembly constituency. 

The PML-N leader said he would approach an appropriate forum seeking a recount of votes cast in NA-60. He said he has been holding consultation with his lawyers in this regard.

Mr Khan accused Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad of running his nephew’s campaign to woo voters in violation of the ECP code of conduct.

According to unofficial results, Sheikh Rashid Shafique won NA-60 by-polls by securing 44, 483 votes against his rival candidate who managed to secure 43,836 votes. As many as nine candidates were in the run for NA-60.

As per unofficial results, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have managed to grab four NA seats each while PML-Q surprised everyone by winning two NA seats. MMA’s Zahid Durrani emerged victorious from NA-35 Bannu.
