PML-N govt working to make Pakistan digitally, economically strong: Dar

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday said the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government was working to make Pakistan digitally and economically strong.

“The PML-N government is leading Pakistan to the path of development according to its charter,” he said while addressing a contract signing ceremony between Ministry of Information Technology and private mobile companies for the provision of 3G services in Dera Bugti, Kharan and Washuk districts of Balochistan and establishment of National Incubation Centers at Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar.

He said due to effective policies of the government a large number of renowned international firms were expressing interest to invest in the country. He said macroeconomic indicators of the country pointed towards the fact that economy was standing on stable and sound footings.

The minister said the government strongly believed in policy of transparency, good governance and accountability. Ishaq Dar said LUMS has publicly endorsed the transparency in the process of establishment of incubation centers.

He said there was a great scope of the development of IT industry in Pakistan which will increase our share of IT exports to a larger level.

Earlier, in her address the Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman said government had a clear vision to transform the dream of digital Pakistan into reality to facilitate the people.

She said the project has been supervised by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and special relief measures have been announced in the new budget for IT and Telecom sector as per the determination of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to make digitally strong.

She said the process of setting up incubation centers at Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar will lead the IT sector to a more advanced stage. She said the ministry received thirty plus proposals for this process.
