ISLAMABAD: On the eve of a judgment in the Panama Papers case that will decide the political fate of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Pakistan Railways said on Friday that the Panama Papers was an international conspiracy, ARY News reported.
In a series of tweets, Khawaja said, “Panama Papers was a conspiracy hatched by international powers. The targets of the conspiracy were Putin (Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the president of Russia), Nawaz Sharif and Cameron (David William Donald Cameron, the former Prime Minister of United Kingdom).”
Slamming the ruling PML-N arch-rival, PTI chairman Imran Khan, for being part of the conspiracy, he said, “Imran became the part of this conspiracy for the sake of power. Many political and apolitical powerful persons fueled the conspiracy due to hatred, bias, and revenge.”
Ruling out the role of any institution’s involvement in the intrigue, Khawaja said, “none of the Pakistan’s institutions was part of this conspiracy.”
The minister said that justice must be seen to be done in the Panama Papers case. The attitude of Panama probe team was biased and prejudiced. Our objections and reservations were not considered.”
Khawaja said that detestation, bias, and vengeance will drive Pakistan off the road to development and stability.
He said that the Supreme Court-sanctioned Joint Investigation Team’s drawn out report was a result of injustice and ill-intentions. This was not possible for the probe team to complete this task within two months, he said and added, “It seems the JIT was helped by Jinns.”
Khawaja said that the government’s four years were spent to rout intrigues and rid the country of crisis.
