LAHORE: Several Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders visited deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif at Kot Lakhpat Jail on Thursday, reported ARY News.
Former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former president Mamnoon Hussain, former defence minister Khawaja Asif, former National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal, Javed Hashmi, PML-N spokesperson Mariam Aurangzaib and others arrived at the prison to meet Sharif.
A large number of party workers were also gathered in the frosty weather outside chanting slogans in support of their jailed leader.
The visitors were allowed to enter after security clearance. All of them walked to the barrack except Aurangzeb who travelled in a rickshaw.
The PML-N supremo had challenged his conviction in Islamabad High Court apart from requesting a bail in Al-Azizia Steel Mills case.
Sharif had pleaded that his sentence be suspended until the final verdict in his appeal challenging the case is announced.
He is currently serving his seven-year sentence in the Al Azizia case.
on Dec 24, an accountability court judge Muhammad Arshad Malik had sentenced Sharif to seven years in prison.
