PML-N policies inflicted heavy economic losses, says Sheikh Rasheed

ISLAMABAD: Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid on Wednesday said the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have inflicted huge economic losses to the economy of the country by signing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) pact with Qatar.

The agreement was entirely aimed to benefit a bunch of few people rather the common masses, AML Chief  claimed while addressing a press conference.

Lashing out at the ruling party, he said Sharif family and his cronies were involved in embezzling billions of the Pakistani taxpayers’ money. “Prime Minister Shahid Abbasi is involved in the corruption of nearly Rs 200 billion [in this project],” Rashid added.

“I am going to approach the court over the LNG agreement with Qatar to expose the real agenda and beneficiaries of the pact,” he said.

He said he would provide the details of the mega corruption soon. “There is no other option left except taking to streets against the corrupt mafia,” he underscored.

The AML chief said two global lending bodies including International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) have expressed reservations on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

“If these circumstances continued gripping the state affairs, I fear finance crisis is going to hit the country dreadfully,” he feared.

Moreover, he cautioned former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to shun confrontation with state institutions as what he claimed: “It is not in the best interests of Pakistan.”
