According to unofficial results obtained from all 167 polling stations, PML-N candidate Malik Omar Farooq received 46, 800 votes, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate stood runner-up with 39, 650 votes. The Pakistan People’s Party came third in the election race.
The seat of PP-7 had fallen vacant after the demise of PTI’s MPA Muhammad Siddique Khan.
In general elections of 2013, Siddique Khan had defeated Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan by a thin margin.
A number of 195, 715 registered voters are present in PP-7.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has congratulated the winner candidate and said the victory of PML-N was a people’s show of trust on the government.
