PoL prices increased after hike in Int’l market: Firdous Ashiq Awan

LAHORE: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said the petroleum prices were increased after hike in the international market, ARY News reported on Sunday.

Talking to newsmen in Lahore after ground breaking of first phase of Naya Pakistan Housing Project in Renala Khurd, she said Prime Minister Imran Khan wants to uplift the oppressed segments of society.

“Homeless people would get shelter under the Naya Pakistan Housing Project”, she said.

To a question, Firdous Ashiq Awan said Maryam Nawaz has been named as vice president of PML-N, which is a violation of law. She said a convict cannot hold a party office.

The special assistant said Pakistan and corruption cannot go together. She urged opposition to play a positive role in the parliament.

On May 3, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting on Friday approved an increase in prices of petroleum products by as much as Rs. 9 per litre for the month of May.

With the increase, the per litre price of petrol would stand at Rs. 108. The meeting also approved the proposed increase in diesel price by Rs. 4.89 per litre, light diesel by Rs.  6.40 and kerosene by Rs. 7.46.
