KARACHI: Police claimed to have arrested a suspected target killer involved in various criminal cases after a shootout with the police personnel in Bahadurabad area of the metropolis, ARY News reported on Saturday.
SSP East Azfar Mahesar said the suspect identified as Shayan alias Shan was arrested after an encounter with the police personnel while his two accomplices managed to flee the scene. Arms were seized from his possession, he added.
He said the held suspect was involved in various crimes, including robberies, extortion, and target killing.
Mahesar said the suspected criminal had killed a citizen within the jurisdiction of PIB Colony police station in 2013, adding that he was also involved in extorting money from traders.

Earlier, on March 7, police had arrested a suspected murderer of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Abdul Habib.
Deputy inspector general (DIG) West Amin Yousufzai said the the deceased’s step-mother, identified as Hajra, got Habib murdered through her brother so she could take over possession of the house they were residing in. It was an issue of property dispute, added the officer.
Hajra also paid her brother Syed Wali Rs 1.2 million after he murdered Habib. Wali had also sent a voice message after murdering the PSP activist. The police found the audio, conducted its forensic test and traced the actual killer. The motorbike used in the crime was also recovered by the law enforcers.
