Policeman shot dead in Karachi’s Old Golimar

KARACHI: A police personnel was killed during an encounter between a police team and drug peddlers on Tuesday in Old Golimar area of Karachi.

According to the details, two policemen riding a motorbike were patrolling in Old Golimar area when unidentified drug peddlers opened fire on them. One of the policeman received bullet injuries and was taken to hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

While the drug peddlers escaped from the scene by taking advantage of narrow streets, said the officials. Police recovered eight spent bullet casings of pistol from the crime scene. The deceased policeman was deployed at Pak Colony Police Station for last one and half year.  The police lodged a case against the unidentified drug peddlers and started investigations into the murder.

While taking notice of the killing of the policeman, Sindh IGP sought an inquiry report from SSP West.

Earlier, a policeman was killed when unidentified armed men opened fire at him in the city’s North Nazimabad area on January 12.

According to the police, the incident took place near Landi Kotal Chowrangi in North Nazimabad area. A police constable, identified as Shakir Ahmed,  was going to report for duty at Gulberg police station when he came under attack.
