ISLAMABAD: A key meeting of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Central Executive Committee (CEC) will be held today (Monday).
PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former president Asif Ali Zardari will jointly preside over the meeting at Zardari House in the capital at 7pm.
The CEC will discuss the overall political situation and the corruption cases against the former president and devise a strategy for protests against the PTI government. It will also finalise a schedule for the PPP’s public meetings in connection with polls in the newly merged tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting will be taking place a day before the presentation of the federal budget for upcoming fiscal year.
While addressing a press conference after an Iftar dinner last month, the PPP Chairman said opposition political parties will protest inside and outside the parliament after Eid.
“Also, post-Eid there will be an all-parties conference chaired by Molana Fazl ur Rehman”, he announced.
He said that no party alone could solve Pakistan’s problems. “Every party has its own manifesto, and united they can come up with the best policy [for public interest],” he said.
The Jamiat Ulema Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Molana Fazl ur Rehman said in his address that Pakistan’s international standing was weakening due to ‘incompetent’ rulers.
