PPP demands Chaudhry Nisar’s resignation

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party leader Farhatullah Babar on Saturday demanded resignation of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan over his ministry’s failure to curb activities of proscribed organisations, ARY News reported.

Speaking to media after a party meeting under PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto, Babar said the party reviewed Nisar’s response and actions after terrorist attacks across the country and reached on the conclusion that the interior ministry is responsible for non-implementation of National Action Plan.

“The ministry has not only failed in stopping banned outfits from operating but has recently met leaders of such organisations,” said Babar.

The PPP leader maintained that the present interior ministry is not willing and capable to fight militants and fight extremists.

He added that Nisar should himself resign, if he does not do the needful voluntarily, the prime minister should take the same from the minister.

‘Failing to find balance’

Speaking on the occasion, another PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan claimed that the resignation of Pervaiz Rasheed shows that government has lost its balance and is struggling to retain power.

Ahsan also condemned the police handling of PTI’s youth convention and claimed that Panama papers probe is an issue in which PTI and PPP speak with one voice.
