ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party leader Senator Abdul Qayyum has predicted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan will be disqualified before the next general elections.

He was answering a question on ARY News program ‘Aitraz Hai’ when asked by host Adil Abbasi why the PTI chairman inferred when he said that after Nawaz Sharif, another leader will be asking why he has been removed.

Imran Khan had on Friday, while addressing a public gathering in Sukkur, had termed the PPP chairperson as the ‘master of thieves’ who led the money laundering spree in Sindh, and vowed to get rid of them.

Qayyum deflected the question and said that instead Imran Khan will instead ask the question why has he been disqualified.

“Imran’s fate is not much different from Nawaz Sharif. Both have the same charges,” he said.

“In fact he (Imran Khan) in morally corrupt,” and therefore Article 62 and 63 of the constitution – which stipulate that a leader should be honest and trustworthy – will disqualify him.

He said that next general elections will be the first for his leader and PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto, but there will be no further elections for Imran Khan.

“I do see any future elections for Imran Khan. He will be disqualified before the next election.”

Qayyum said the he failed to decipher how a Western-educated leader introduced a culture of immorality and disrespect in the politics of Pakistan, and hoped that instead he should be taught ethics and moral values.

He furthered said that a case has been filed against Imran that he allegedly collected funds for his hospital, and instead used them in casino in Britain.

He said that it was inappropriate for Imran to use such derogatory language against Zardari, and they should instead look at their own ranks before criticising others.

“Why right does he have to such language against our leader?” he questioned adding Imran was being prepped and has no real knowledge of politics.

He also said the PTI is failing on all fronts, and predicts that he would not be able to muster much seats in the next elections including in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
