PPP’s Baloch wins NA-258 by-election

KARACHI: According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)’s Abdul Hakeem Baloch won the by-elections on National Assembly seat in constituency NA-258 here on Monday, ARY News reported.

The PPP candidate has reportedly bagged more than 80, 000 votes. The party supporters resorted to celebrations as the unofficial results mentioned.

Earlier, Abdul Hakeem Baloch contested on this seat for general elections in 2013, as a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and won by 52, 751 votes. The seat laid vacant after he left PML-N to join PPP over differences with the leadership.

Talking to ARY News, the PPP candidate said Lion (election symbol of PML-N party) would be forced to flee from Sindh.

The total number of voters in the constituency were 408,613, while the number of polling stations were 287. A total 14 candidates were in the field for the contest.

The process of polling ended peacefully amid high security.
