Pre-monsoon rains hit parts of country mainly upper Punjab

Heavy winds coupled with rain hit Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Sialkot, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin and adjoining areas. People in a wave of ecstasy took to streets and on top of their houses to enjoy the sudden turn in weather conditions.

Meanwhile, it rained heavily in different areas of Thar Desert including Umar Kot, Pathoro, Dhoro Naro.

Stormy winds and rains also swept away the heat from Dera Ismail Khan and Haripur and drenched everything.

In Mirpur Khas, dusty winds kept blowing while in Karachi light drizzle was reported in some areas.

The Met Office had earlier predicted first spell of pre-monsoon rains over upper Punjab, Hazara Division, Lower Sindh and Kashmir from this weekend.

The spokesman for Met-Office, in a release dated June 18, informed that weak to moderate monsoon currents are likely to penetrate in upper & some south-eastern parts of Pakistan from Saturday/Sunday. Based on incursions of monsoon currents, the forecast for different areas is given below;

Three or four rains with dust-storm/thundershower expected at scattered places of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala & Lahore Divisions during Saturday evening/night to Thursday.

Three or four rains with thundershower expected at a number of places in Hazara division & Kashmir during Saturday to Thursday.

Two or three rains with dust/ thundershower expected at isolated places of Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Bannu, Faislabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal, during Sunday to Wednesday.,

One or two rains with dust/ thundershower expected at isolated places of D.I.Khan, Zhob, Sibbi, Multan, D.G. Khan and Bahawalpur Divisions during Monday to Thursday.

One or two rains with dust/ thundershower expected at isolated places of Mirpur Khas Division during Saturday to Tuesday.
