Priyanka Chopra spills her ‘biggest obstacle’ in Hollywood

A-list actor Priyanka Chopra opened up on the struggles she faced being an Indian while building a career in Hollywood.

In the latest interview ahead of the premiere of her new series ‘Citadel’, Chopra spoke about the obstacles and perceptions that she had to overcome as an Indian actor while establishing herself in Hollywood.

The ‘Matrix’ actor credited streaming and the emergence of OTT platforms for the latest globalisation in the entertainment industry, which opened doors to many South Asian artists for them to explore the space.

Chopra recalled the time, about a decade ago, when she shifted her focus towards international projects and revealed, “The biggest obstacle that I think I faced as an Indian actor was the limited view of what I was capable of.”

“It has been a massive change. I am very, very proud to have colleagues and peers that have the strength and the bravery to be able to swim through a dense water that has kept us out for a very long time, and actually demand a seat at the table,” she added.

“When it comes to the arts, we are always going to push the envelope to make sure more inclusion happens,” the celeb affirmed.

It is pertinent to note here that Priyanka Chopra recently hosted a South Asian excellence bash ahead of the main Oscars night to celebrate her colleagues from the region. Several stars from both India and Pakistan marked their presence at the event.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Chopra is awaiting the release of the Russo Brothers’ web series ‘Citadel’. The first-to-launch season will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in April.
