Protest held outside KPC in solidarity with Faizullah Khan

Addressing the protesters, Secretary KPC Amir Lateef labeled Faizullah’s arrest as a violation of human rights. Journalists at the demonstration strongly condemned the four years penalty awarded to Faizullah Khan and demanded the authorities to make efforts for his immediate release.

They vowed to continue the campaign until the safe return of the ARY News’ reporter from Afghanistan and warned of surrounding the Afghan Consulate in the next stage.

Faizullah Khan, in the line of pursuing his professional responsibilities had gone to the north western tribal region of Pakistan in April this year, where from he mistakenly crossed the border and entered into Afghanistan.

Afghan security agencies had arrested him and he was presented before a local court in Nangarhar province yesterday.

A three-member bench sentenced Faizullah for four years of rigorous imprisonment for entering into Afghanistan without travel documents.

The court however, rejected spying allegations against him.
