PTA orders jamming cellular services in Red Zone: sources

According to sources, PTA has issued the orders of suspending mobile phone services in the Red Zone of Islamabad and adjacent areas.

It was reported that the authorities have been directed to keep the cellular services suspended for an indefinite period, in the areas where Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) have been staging protest sit-ins.

Telecom sources told that mobile phone services can be suspended anytime, upon the directives of PTA.

On the other hand, the government has blocked all the routes leading to Rawalpindi and Islamabad, including the GT Road and the Murree Express Way.

The government is of the view that terrorists may enter into Islamabad through these ways.
