CHISHTIAN: After a gap of around ten days, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) is set to hold a public meeting in Chishtian – a city in Bahawalnagar district – to muster support of the masses ahead of the general elections scheduled around August next year.
All preparations have been finalized for the rally being held at Railway Ground with PTI flags, and banners inscribed with party slogans and portraying PTI chief Imran Khan and other leaders put up at the venue and adjoining areas of the city.
Imran Khan and senior party leaders have already arrived at the venue and to address the rally shortly.
The PTI has stepped up its mass contact campaign to mould public opinion in its favour in the wake of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s ouster in the Panama Papers case in July this year.
Since the Panama Papers issue erupted and Sharif was deposed by the Supreme Court for concealing his un-drawn salary from a UAE-based company, the ruling PML-N and the opposition PTI were locked in a bitter face-off with both parties never missing a chance to took aim at each other.
On Nov 24, PTI chief Imran Khan said ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s ideology was corruption.
“Nawaz Sharif says he is an ideology, his ideology is corruption,” he said.
Addressing a rally a few days ago in Abbotabad, Nawaz said that he was himself an ideology which would bring a revolution in Pakistan.
Imran said once Pakistan was developmentally thriving the fastest in the region, however corruption had plagued all its progress.
He said accumulating money while in power was tantamount to corruption. Nawaz had one factory prior to embarking upon political career which had multiplied up to 30 factories now, he said.
“It is very unfortunate that people like Nawaz and former president Asif Zardari came into power. When a prime minister does corruption, it has trickle down effect and makes the entire system corrupt,” he said.
