PTI to challenge nomination papers of Ishaq Dar for Senate polls

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Friday announced to challenge the nomination papers of former finance minister Ishaq Dar for the Senate polls.

Speaking to media, PTI leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed said Dar, who is facing a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference for allegedly amassing wealth beyond his known sources of income, was a proclaimed offender.

Besides, he said, Dar was facing serious charges of money laundering. He said despite the charges PML-N wants to elect Dar as senator.

The PTI would challenge his nomination for a general seat and a technocrat seat, he announced.

He also claimed that the papers of the senior PML-N leader were filed with his fake signatures.

Rasheed said he would approach an appropriate forum to summon Dar for verification of his signatures under Qanun-e-Shahadat Order, 1984 (Law of Evidence).

He urged the national anti-corruption watchdog to take action in this regard.

Meanwhile, the PTI leader demanded that a judicial inquiry be ordered into the allegations of former police inspector Abid Boxer facing criminal cases for his involvement in extrajudicial killings.
