Rs 1.44 trillion Punjab budget unveiled

Presenting the budget in the Provincial Assembly, Dr. Ghaus said Rs 400 billion four have been allocated for the next year’s Annual Development Programme.

While Rs 110 billion have been earmarked for maintaining law and order.

Likewise, Rs 166.16 billion have been allocated for health sector. Similarly Rs 21 billion have been allocated for irrigation while  Rs 70 billion for clean drinking water in the next three years.

The salaries of the government employees have been increased by 7.5 %.

The Finance Minister said an amount of Rs 888 billion will be received by Punjab from federal divisional pool under the NFC Award.

He said an income of Rs 256 rupees is expected from provincial revenues.

She said Rs 26 billion will be spent on metro bus Multan Project while Rs 44 billion have been spent on Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro bus service.

Four new Danish schools will be established this year. The minister said Rs 18 billion have been earmarked for judiciary.

Another Rs 8 billion rupees have been allocated for livestock and Rs 20.10 billion for women development.

Earlier, the Punjab Cabinet approved the budget proposals for the next fiscal year at a meeting held in Lahore with Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in the Chair.
