According to details, the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) that targeted a police mobile van. The blast, which took place on the Eastern Bypass near the police mobile, damaged the vehicle considerably as five policemen were wounded in the attack. The injured policemen were immediately shifted to the Civil Hospital Quetta for treatment.
The police mobile was patrolling the area when it became the target of the IED blast. FC personnel and police reached the scene of the blast to begin initial investigation into the blast.
So far, no militant group has stepped forward to claim the responsibility for the blast.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also condemned the blast and issued directives for the injured to be provided with the best medical care.
Balochistan has been struck by violence in the recent past. Militants have been targeting police officials and security forces in the province.
