At least two killed, 15 wounded in Quetta mosque blast

QUETTA: At least two persons lost their lives and 15 sustained severe wounded following a powerful bomb explosion took place inside Rehmania mosque during Friday prayers in Quetta, ARY News reported.

The high-intensity explosion occurred at the densely populated Pashtun Abad area of the provincial capital of Balochistan.

Police officials said that the intensity of the blast can be observed as window glasses of nearby buildings were also shattered after the explosion. The officials added that the explosion was carried out when people were started gathering for the Friday sermon.

Rescue teams have arrived in at the site and shifted affected persons to the Civil Hospital.

Hospital sources said that two injured persons are critical.

Security forces cordoned off whole area and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) is also summoned at the incident’s site.

On April 12, at least 20 people were killed and several others got injured on Friday in a suicide blast at Quetta’s Hazarganji sabzi mandi where eight of the victims were belonging to the Hazara community.

According to the police, buildings located nearby were also damaged in the blast.

Addressing a press conference, Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Lango confirmed death of 20 people and injuries to 48 others in the attack.

Condemning the cowardly attack of targeting innocent people, Lango said the attack was a suicide one.
