Rahat Fateh Ali Khan receives Lifetime Achievement Award at Oxford University

Rahat who is currently on a musical tour in the United Kingdom was invited to the  two centuries old Holy Hall Academy of the university where he received the award.

Rahat said on Twitter that he was deeply honoured receive the award for his services to music and said he deeply missed his mentor Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Later, Rahat was given a tour of the university where a 200-year-old music room was opened for him. He also performed  session with the students of the university and even performed with the Fusion project and said that students were amazing.

The Fusion Project are an ensemble of students from Oxford University brought together by their shared mission to revive and make accessible the beauty of Indian Classical Arts.

Their latest release is a mash up of Eddie Vedder’s Hard Sun and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s Allah Hoo.  This was to pay tribute to Rahat’s uncle who is widely regarded as one of the greatest voices ever recorded.

Rahat is the first Pakistan to receive the award, which has previously been given to Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
