KARACHI: Anti Terrorist Force of Sindh Rangers killed most wanted terrorist and nominated vice chief of banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Sindh Saqib alias Arif.
The terrorist, also known as Anjum and Abbas, was killed in an raid carried out on tip-off of intelligence agencies Hub area on Thursday night.
Saqib was involved in terror attacks with the help of Al Qaeda, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Islamic State.
The terror attacks include ambushing former corps commander of Karachi General Ahsan Saleem’s vehicle, suicide attack on the then leader of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, murder attack on chief security officer of former president Asif Ali Zardari, Bilal Sheikh, attacks on church and minority members, while he was currently engaged in planning to attack Rangers Headquarters Karachi and Special Security Unit with the help of explosive materials.
Sindh Rangers spokesperson said den of the terrorist had an underground room which was used as a factory to concoct improvised explosive devices and other explosive materials.
“A huge cache of automatic weapons, ammunition, hand grenades and tools to make IEDs were also recovered from the den,” he said.
