Rangers recover large quantity of arms from Surjani

“On the indication of an accused affiliated with a political party, Rangers personnel conducted raid in Surjani and recovered large quantity of the arms,” a spokesman of the paramilitary force said.

The arms were kept at a water tank, spokesman said.

Rangers personnel recovered 15 rifles, a repeater, bullet proof jackets and a large quantity of rounds from the water tanks, the spokesman added.

A law and order operation’ in Karachi was initiated in September 2013 after

the federal cabinet authorized Rangers to lead a targeted crackdown with the assistance of police against criminals already identified by the military and civilian agencies for their alleged involvement in targeted killings, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism in the port city.

A high-level apex committee meeting chaired by the Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif in May, 2015 decided to implement effective policing and surveillance in the suburbs of Karachi to prevent the terrorist attacks.
