Ranipur Haveli murder: ATC grants 5-day physical remand of Fayyaz Shah

KHAIRPUR: An anti-terrorism court here granted physical remand of accused Pir Fayyaz Shah in the murder case of child maid Fatima Phuriro, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Police produced Fayyaz Shah in the court and pleaded for 14 days’ physical remand of the accused. But ATC granted five days’ physical remand of the influential pir from Ranipur.

Police had arrested Fayyaz Shah on Friday in murder case of child maid Fatima.

Fayyaz Shah was taken into custody when he was going back to his haveli after addressing a press conference, sources said.

Earlier, the Sindh High Court’s Hyderabad bench had granted interim bail to Fayyaz Shah.

Khairpur Police had conducted raid in Defence area of Karachi in search of two accused of the murder of minor maid at Ranipur Haveli.

Police raided residence of the family of influential Pirs of Ranipur at Khayaban-e-Shamsher in Karachi’s posh area of Defence Society, sources said.

The raid was conducted for arrest of two nominated accused in the murder case, Hina Shah and Fayyaz Shah, at the residence of Niaz Shah, a brother of Fayyaz Shah, police sources said.

However, no person was arrested in police raid. “Mobile phones of the accused have been off to avoid arrest,” police said.

On Thursday, an anti-terrorism court granted five days of physical remand of main accused Asad Shah and co-accused, Imtiaz Meerasi in the murder case.

The postmortem report of the girl had confirmed that the minor maid was sexually abused.
