Rashid Godil ‘out of danger’, says hospital spokesman

Hospital Spokesman Anjum Rizvi this morning told media persons that Godil was now out of danger still he will remain at ICU for next couple of days and will be transferred to medical ward afterwards, ARY News reported.

The attackers on motorcycles had opened fire on the car of Rashid Godil last Tuesday, killing his driver and critically wounding him.

He was attacked on the day Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman visited the MQM’s Nine Zero headquarters to convince them to review their decision of resigning from Sindh Assembly and the parliament.

Hospital spokesman said that Mr Godil drank water and sipped tea and made steady progress without the breathing apparatus for the fourth day.

DIG-East Munir Ahmed Shaikh also visited Rashid Godil at the hospital.

The DIG who leading the probe did not ask more questions since he was in pain and decided that his formal statement would be recorded later, police sources said.

Moreover, the family of Godil has requested Sindh and federal government to arrange the injured MQM lawmaker’s travel to United States for medical care and security.
