LAHORE: A resolution seeking removal of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider from office and initiation of a treason case against him over his controversial remarks about Kashmir was submitted in Punjab Assembly (PA) secretariat on Tuesday, ARY News reported.
MPA Shoaib Siddiqui of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf submitted the resolution in the assembly secretariat, condemning AJK Prime Minister Farooq Haider’s remarks that Kashmir was considering accession with another country over Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification. His remarks were highly condemnable and aimed at breaking the spirit of Kashmiri people struggling for their right to self-determination, he added.
The resolution demands that AJK PM should be removed from the top office of the region and be tried under treason charges.
A day earlier, Haider while addressing a press conference clarified his statement which allegedly said that he is considering AJK’s accession to another country after Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the court in Panama Papers case.
He said that the news story published in an Urdu daily was distortion of his statement. He asked the media not to jeopardize the cause of Kashmir in their battle. Farooq said the fallacious story had deeply hurt his sentiments. The newspaper should have at lest ascertained the facts before sending it into print, he added.
