Rickshaw driver gets Rs50,000 reward for foiling robbery attempt

KARACHI: Rickshaw driver Khalid who foiled a robbery bid near Korangi Crossing has prompted Sindh police to reward him Rs 50,000 for the brave act risking his life.

Inspector General of Sindh Police A. D. Khawaja announced to give a reward to the driver. He said: “Due to his remarkable act of bravery three robbers have been arrested.”

A family was

travelling in a rickshaw when three suspects riding a motorcycle snatched a purse from the woman. Quickly reacting to counter mugging, the driver ran his rickshaw into the suspects’ motorcycle, knocking them down into the Malir river.

His rickshaw also fell into the water causing minor injuries to one woman and the rickshaw driver. The robbers were shortly arrested by the police.
