ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Russia have agreed to ‘improve cooperation in the field of defense production’ on Thursday, the spokesman of Foreign Office Dr. Muhammad Faisal reported.
The understanding came at a meeting of Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Russian Ambassador Alexy Dedov at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the federal capital today.
The two sides mutually decided to enhance collaboration in defense production, while the discussion pertaining to ratchet up bilateral trade and investment took place.
The cooperation in the sphere of energy was also the part of meeting as per the FO spokesman.
Dr. Muhammad Faisal tweeted, “FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi met Russian Ambassador Alexy Dedov at MoFA Islamabad today. Discussions for improvement in bilateral trade, energy and investment held. The two sides agreed to improve cooperation in field of defense production.”
Few days ago, Pakistan and Malaysia also agreed to beef up mutual cooperation in defense and other spheres as a step towards further strengthening their bilateral relations.
According to details, Chief of Royal Malaysian Air Force General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj Affendi Bin Buang met Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan and decided to increase their cooperation.
During the meeting, the Pakistani air chief briefed the visiting dignitary regarding PAF’s ongoing indigenization projects in recent years.
The Chief of Malaysian Air Force also acknowledged the sound professionalism of Pakistan Air Force and lauded its key role in the war on terrorism.
